7 Ways to Bring Technology into the Classroom

This article tells you seven good ways you could bring technology into your classroom or how your school district could bring technology into the district. To begin with the seven ways to incorporate this into your classroom are: have your students blog, create social network, podcast, use wikis for big projects, try social bookmarking, post videos, and explore with goole maps. These are just some of the ways you can bring technology into your classroom. Some ways could be better than others in ways such as protection of the child while at school, example: using a social network unless its monitored by the school teacher or the school and its only realated with other schools that we know and have common interests with. Social networking can sometimes be dangerous but if we as teacher take the correct steps to setting one up, then we can benefit from that network.

I believe that we should incorporate technology into the schools and classroom, it has already happened and future teachers will always come into a world where teaching is mostly technology rather than how it was when this generation was in grade school. It would be a good thing for technology to be available to students while they are at school because in some cases, students may not have access to interenet or technology outside of the school setting.

The Evolution of Classroom Technology

Technology in the classrooms has come a long way over the decades and centuries. Technology has grown a lot from projectors to ipads, its good to know whats coming next but also to know where everything started. In 1925, Thomas Edison stated: "Books will soon be obsolete in schools. Scholars will soon be instructed through the eye." This is true to today's society and technology as it is incorporated into the classrooms. In 1890, the school slate was created. This was basically a mini chalkboard that each student in the class had one and as the teacher taught, the students could do practice problems and then show how they got their answers.  Also in 1890, the chalkboard itself was invented and still to this day, it is still being used across the globe. Then in 1900, the pencil was created, by creating the pencil students could use paper and get more work done on a piece of paper rather than a mini chalkboard, with paper and pencil they would be able to take home their work and use it for examples on homework.

I believe by having these items and many more from prior centuries and decades, we are still adding to the technology aspect of education. Many things have been created to help students learn in the classroom and outside of the classroom. By having all these technologies students can incorporate their own style to learning and have loads of information at their finger tips. I believe if we continue at this rate of producing technologies, it is or might be possible that teachers will just be in the classroom as extra help while a computer teaches the classroom and classwork.

Using the Technology of Today, in the Classrooms Today.

This article tells you many things about how education can use technology to help students with social networking, finding information, playing games, and many more things. Students can use technology in many ways such as typing resumes, applications, creating webpages for themselves. But at the same time the internet can be used against students. Students using the internet for social networking, use it to communicate with friends and other things and they post pictures and things that shouldn't be posted, they also use technology to bully other students.

I believe if we have technology in the schools, then we need to set rules and overall we need to find ways to let students know that employers look on the internet to see whats on there about the people they have applying for their place of work. Therefore, students don't realize what they put on their facebook, myspace, twitter, and pinterest will always  be accessible to anyone and everyone that has internet access. We as teachers need to educate students on how to use the internet safely.

Classroom Management Software

There are three main types of management software that teachers and people in the education field use. They are Learning Management Software which is used to help teachers enhance the nature, range and quality of their learning activities in the classroom. Having a software that can help teachers with activities for the nature and range of their students can be very beneficial.  The second  type of software that educators can use is a software that monitors what their students are doing on the computers and what types of things they are researching on the internet. There are many brands of software that can do this, but you as a teacher need to have a software that controls your students individual computer screen and be able to block websites that your students don't need to be on. The final type of software you could use in your class is called administrative software. This software typically allows the routines and time-consuming tasks of running a school much more manageable.

I believe having a software that can do all these things would be very helpful to teacher. Being able to take attendance, check why a student is absent in your class, and many other things would be beneficial to teachers. Even though students may not like the fact that teachers in the school system can check what's going on at anytime, its something that the teachers need to know when its during school hours. Therefore having softwares that can help the educators out would be worth having.

Using Television in the Classroom

There are many ways you can use a television in your classroom. A couple of ways are: to connect one lesson to another, to enlarge the text of something, view actively, spark new interests in topics, and prepare lessons for the next day. Using the television for all these things can benefit many students along with you as the teacher. Enlarging the texts of something could be for your students in the back of the classroom or maybe you have a student whose vision isn't very good, so you could use the television to their advantage without all the other students knowing why your using it. You can also use the television to show videos of something that relates to the topic that you're talking about that day or week.

I think that having at least one television within easy access of a classroom would be a good idea. This is because a lot of school libraries don't have very many DVD's, but they do have a lot of VHS's, therefore you can always access a television to show those types of videos, and the students will still be just as happy. There are many reasons teacher's should be able to get a television easily.

50 Plus Ideas for Using Document Cameras in the Classroom

By having a document camera in the classroom is one of the easiest ways to incorporate technology in the room. There are many things you can use this document camera for in the classroom depending on the grade level too. Your students can be actively engage student in the learning process. The students that are visual learners will benefit greatly from this tool being in the classroom. Depending on the grade level you can change up the activities that you do with your students.

Having these projectors for students at the elementary level, can benefit you as a teacher and the students both. Could affect the students learning visually, auditory, and hands on learning. By having students that learn differently, teachers need to have different activities that fit all students and all types of learners. Students that learn differently need certain things to help them learn, they can't just be expected to learn the way regular students learn.

Why are Smart Boards Great for Students?

There are many reasons why SmartBoards would be great for students. Students would increase their motivation, therefore they would want to get involved and be an active learner. They would also be more interested in your topic or lesson of the day, it would allow creativity and variety in the classroom as far as activities. Mostly it would encourage students to actively participate, in class work, discussions, and answering questions. It gets students up and moving and learning to be an active learner.

I believe we need to have smartboards in the classroom, we had them where I went to school and they got students involved more in the classroom. Students who are actively learning and physically doing activities usually have a better chance at getting the better grades verses if you just sit there and listen. I think if we were to take smartboards out of the classrooms, the students would probably go back to not saying much in class and not answering questions.

Eggspert Classroom Curriculum System

This artical tells you the two ways you can use the eggspert system. The two ways you can use this system in the classroom is the Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune modes.

The Jeopsrdy mode: the color bar is connected to answer cords that allows students to hit answers without everyone knowing what answer they hit. The first student to have the answer to the question being asked, squeezes their answer key and they in turn get that question.

The Wheel of Fortune: the teacher uses the control button setting the eggsperts lights into motion. Then the eggs light up in sequence, making noise beeping and blinking one at a time. They start out rapidly and begin to slow down, until one egg remains lit. Then the students (or team) assigned that color answers the question or completes the activity.

I think these would be a good thing to place in the classrooms, it would allow students to get more involved in class discussions, answer questions without feeling like they didn't answer correctly.  Many teachers encourage their students to get involved, well now there is a way to get them involved and make learning fun!

Types of technology in the classrooms

There are different types of technology that can be incorperated in the classroom this article talks about those types of technology. The types of technology that can be incorporated into the class would be: Elmo Projector, Eggspert, SmartBoard, Projector, Classroom PC's, Claculator Based Labratory System, Computer Software, and a Television. Not all these technologies have to be in the same classroom but you are likely to see many of them in the same one.

I believe we need to have a variety of technology available for the classroom, because if a teacher tries one technology then they have options to try many others. Their students and the age level they are teaching is another thing that we have to look at as well, we wouldn't really want to use higher-level technology with a 3rd grade class, so looking and having options keeps teachers variety open on what types of technology they would like to place in their classrooms. It needs to pertain to the curriculum though, you wouldn't want to have two things that are completely opposite.

Will the Kindle Change Education?

In this article a teacher in Indiana, directs his students to work on research projects and they usually turn to the usual resources that we all would such as: atlases, maps, books, but we don't normally think about Kindles. Kindles are becoming a new technology that teachers are using the their classrooms more and more. This teacher is one of a few teachers that have began to capitalize on the slim, digital tablets to access and display digital books. Teachers use Kindles because they are bigger then the paperback books but yet smaller than a laptop, and are stocked with information and books at our fingertips, while normally you'd go to the local or school library and check out books; but if they didn't have the book you needed you'd have to wait. With the Kindles you can get a copy of any book at the tip of our fingers.

I agree with the strategy this teacher is taking, and placing the Kindles in his classroom. Placing these objects in the classroom and incorporating them into the curriculum can be very beneficial to the students. Ways it could benefit them are: 1. they will want to get more involved in class discussions, 2. would want to do more research and get more involved in reading, because they look at it as a fun way to read. There are so many benefits to having new technology in the classroom in today's curriculum.

Why intergrate techonolgy into the classrooms?

By having technology touching almost every aspect of our lives, schools need to be up to date on the technology and let students use it in the classrooms, for school purposes. By having students use technology it would teach them life skills to assist them in a complex world. Intergrating techonolgy into the classroom curriculum it must support the four key points of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world experts. Technology intergration is effectively achieved when the use of the technology is routine, transparent, and when they technology supports curricular goals.

I believe that we should try and effectively intergrate technology into the school curriculum, it would help th future generations tramendously. Letting the students have technology in the classroom could help them learn subjects in a fun way, you can incorporate games and many lesson plans to help studnets learn in many fun and creative ways.

School-Based Cyberbullying Interventions (Bullying with technology)

Technology isn't just used for researching in the classrooms or during classtime. Students are living in a world where cyberbullying is a growning trend amoung all aged children, many children have been on the news either telling their story of how they got the bullying to stop or they have taken their own lives, so their families reach out to society to help stop this horrible act from continuing.

Although teachers want to incorperate technology in the classrooms, yes they say no cell phones, but students always try to get away with having them; therefore having the cell phones is how they are using the technology during school hours to continue this horrible act and not even on the internet at that point it could be through text messages. In this article it states 20-35% of children and adolescents report experiencing cyberbullying as either the bully or the victim and in some cases, its both. Cyberbullying is different from traditional bullying because with it coming from technology the victim can not possibly get away from the person or people bullying him/her.

I believe that if we stick technology in the classroom make sure the school districts have blocked the sites where students could possibly bully one another and we've got to inforce the no cell phones during school more, because that's also an issue with the bullying.

iPODS for little ones: the Pros and Cons

Having iPods in the classrooms can benefit students in many ways, it can help them be more involved in the lecures in class and feeling like they can answer questions without getting made fun of for having the wrong answer, or they don't have to tell the teacher "I don't know." They can freely answer questions and the teacher can tell who  understands the lessons and who doesn't; which then they can come up with ways to help that student or students learn. Having iPods in the classroom is allowing students to interact with students from other schools, where for example one school can make a project, do their research and data, and then they as a class can post their findings on the web and other schools and teachers can get ideas and add to the project. The internet is becoming a huge social network.

In my opinion, we should have incorperated more technology activities many years ago. Students would probably be more up to asking questions in class and having more class discussions, and not be ashamed if they don't understand or if they have their own opinion. Using these technologies in the classrooms could help our students get jobs and many other things. But we also have down falls to putting the internet into classrooms, children now are getting facebooks, twitter accounts, and many other social networking accounts; and they are at an age where they may not understand the concequences of what they are doing. Schools can also block websites from being viewed at school which could help with many things. I believe that we should incorperate technology into classrooms as long as it will benefit the students.

Techonology in Classroom for Fifth Graders

A Fifth grade classroom is using a classroom blog to interact with students and their teachers. By doing this, a student in the classroom stated that when students are asked to write a rough draft the moan and complain about having to write one. But by having them write a rough draft and they know their blog is going to be put on the classroom blog, they actually enjoy learning the information and then they enjoy writing about it as well. Using technology this way to get students to interact with others and technology is a good thing.

I believe that teachers should have a classroom blog, and that this is a very good idea and way to get the students to interact and do good productive research. It also improves on their writing skills because they will have more practice, and it will only improve their skills. This student even tells that by blogging it can improve language arts skills for the students.

Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students

Effects on Technology on Classrooms and Students

After reading this article,  it opened my eye on how the teacher and the students would need to change in the classroom to be more effective with the technology. Most teachers saw an increase in the students motivation. Students and Teachers are sometimes shocked at the level of the technology they are using, so it can help motivate students to do more in the classroom versus not getting involved in the classroom. When students use technology they are actively making choices to manipulate, obtain, generate, and display information to others.

I personally think that integrating technology into the schools would be a good idea. It allows the students to get a chance to teach each other learn and it could allow them to have a fun time learning rather than being bored in classes. Students will collaborate with their peers more in class when using technology because they will help each other learn ways to use it.
